What Are Tenors?

Tenor drums are used in marching bands, commonly they have 4-6 drums allowing one person to carry and play multiple drums at the same time. Since having 4-6 drums to play on at a time, the player must learn how to move around the drum smoothly while playing every drum they hit with proper technique and fullness of sound. In the 1830s, European military bands began using this drum. Tenors are typically tuned to a very high pitch so the sound carries farther outdoors.
